There is another aspect that is unavoidable in this day and age and we also want to address this issue:
Sustainability in the cable industry!
What are we actually doing to make chainflex more sustainable?
What measures are already in place, what are our goals and, ultimately, how can we maintain our high quality standards while reducing our ecological footprint? And can sustainability be combined with benefits for the customer?
Watch the video to find out how we are already actively making a difference and focussing on the topic of sustainability.
We try to avoid long transport routes in general. Thanks to our local supply chain, igus can offer 70% of all chainflex cables worldwide with short transport routes.
This way, we save a lot of CO2 and you as a customer benefit from fast delivery times.
igus recycles up to 100% of the copper waste from old cables. The copper is separated from the other materials in the cable, collected separately and then processed back into stranded wire and reused for new cables.
This means that the finite resource of copper is not simply thrown away. It is used responsibly and helps meet the constant demand for copper without wasting resources.
At the end of a cable drum, there are usually residual lengths of the respective cable. The quality is of course exactly identical to the rest on the cable drum and comes with the same 4-year guarantee.
What happens to these residual lengths? Throwing them away is neither sustainable nor sensible!
For this reason, we offer our available residual lengths of each cable in our online shop at 50% of the original price.
Simply take a look in our shop: directly next to your desired item, you can see whether there are any residual lengths available.
Our customer BSH Hausgeräte was looking for a solution that would enable them to accurately unwind cables and avoid waste during maintenance. The customer was also interested in aspects such as saving packaging material and space in the bearing.
The solution is the chainflex CASE! Thanks to this solution, our customer can simply unwind the cables directly from the case in the warehouse, avoids unnecessary waste and was able to save 84% in shipping costs as this product can be transported by parcel carrier.
What is good for our customers is also good for the environment.
The customer is satisfied with this solution and we are proud to have also protected the environment. Packaging materials are saved in the long term and no waste is produced due to offcuts. They also have the possibility to use the refill option and thus save another 2.6kg of packaging waste.
It's an absolute win-win situation.
The energy supply is a challenge, especially on long travels. The customer does not want to spend a lot of money unnecessarily because cables have to be permanently replaced. A further disadvantage is the constant waste of old cables and the high energy consumption for producing new ones, in addition to the journey from production to use. For example, one of our customers faced this problem with an indoor crane in a cement plant with a 32m crane runway.
Save money and protect the environment.
The solution included an energy chain filled with various chainflex cables. The guaranteed durability ensures functionality, which saves customers time and money while conserving valuable environmental resources. Great things can be achieved in the long term through a high level of quality awareness.
Does a cable replacement have to take a long time?
This saved our customer Noble Drilling 8 hours of replacement time.
One of the most important aspects of sustainable work is our high-quality and therefore long-lasting products! This is due to the fact that we continuously test and check all cables.
The result: cables with a guarantee of up to 4 years! For you, this means fewer cable replacements.
And to top it all: not only do we guarantee the 4 years, our guarantee statement is also UL-verified. This confirms that our statement is not just a marketing promise, but that we take it seriously so that you can benefit from the reliability of our cables.
Is there more on the subject of sustainability in the cable industry?
Yes, of course! We will show you what other ways we are exploring to protect our planet.
