Swarf-resistant energy chains up to +850°C

No hot swarf melting or embedding into the chain, thanks to igus igumid HT material

igus® energy tubes have been used in areas where swarf occurs for more than 20 years. Some applications, depending on amount, size and temperature of the chips, left burn and melt marks, however. The new igus material igumid HT puts an end to that. This opens new possibilities for replacing more complex and expensive steel energy supplies.

igumid HT in a test

In the test, 20g of hot swarf (200 to 850°C) was brought into contact with different materials. The graphic shows the amount of chips that have burned into the material. Test winner: igumid HT up to 850°C.

igumid HT test The amount (g) of chips that have burned into the material in relation to the temperature
igumid HT test Standard material igumid G: chips remain attached, burn themselves up
igumid HT test The new igumid HT: no swarf remain attached

Recommended energy chains for protection against swarf (chips)
