Clean energy supply for ships

The igus e-chain reel is a motor-driven, reelable energy chain system equipped with a special chain with roller inserts that can be used to flexibly position the socket within a range of up to 100m. This allows more ships to be supplied than permanently installed systems can manage.

igus shore power supply solutions, such as the e-chain reel, use generators to provide ships with power while they are in port so that power need not be produced on the ship. This sustainably protects the environment and the health of those in the port area. Powering an entire ship is a major challenge. In addition to the technical challenges of the power supply system (such as the right voltage and frequency), the place where the cables coming from the ship have to be connected also changes from ship to ship.
