Bin-picking with robolink D and a camera vision system

About the application:

This Volkswagen AG pilot system demonstrates bin-picking with robolink D and a camera vision system. The application is forced ventilation frame handling for the Passat/Arteon, component separation and feed for further processing.
 

The problem

Removing the forced ventilation frame from the small load carrier and removing and disposing of intermediate cardboard layers required an automated solution. The forced ventilation frames were to be provided for a six-axis robot that would install the parts directly in the vehicle in line operation.

The solution:

In the pilot system, the bin-picking solution was implemented with robolink D, achieving series production in automobile manufacturing. The successful pilot project was implemented in the Emden assembly plant's Hall 2 line process in the third quarter of 2020.
