Control cable CF880.10.12

Test number:4588
Bend radius:100mm (factor 9.3 x d)
Service life:more than 10 million strokes
In this test, the service life expectancy of the CF880.10.12 in a linear chain with a 100mm radius was to be analysed. With a test result of over 10 million double strokes, it was possible to confirm that even a low-cost cable is reliable.

Using the CF880 in practice

A control panel for a saw or other woodworking machine always sounds like a simple application. In principle, it is, but reliability is of paramount importance here because it influences all machine functions. Radii are often large, and in the area of wood or other building materials, the CF880's PVC jacket with its good abrasion properties for avoiding dry dust performs very well. Such systems are often installed worldwide, so a UL approval as well as a reliable service life is required.

Control cable CF881.15.12

Test number:5294
Bend radius:125mm (factor 12.5 x d)
Service life:12 million strokes
In this test, the service life expectancy of the CF881.15.12 in an e-chain with a 125mm radius was to be analysed.

The test showed that the expected service life of the CF881.15.12 control cable is over 12 million strokes. This also confirms that inexpensive chainflex PVC control cables are reliable and have a long service life.

Using the CF881 in practice

Where manufacturing technology previously relied on other stones to process stones, today they are processed on industrial production lines using machine tools. Sawing and milling machines, gang saws or block saws are often used in stone processing. The control cables used in the energy chain, which are located in the application, are exposed to fine dust, vibration, stone and tool fragments. It is also a rather dry environment. Cables with a PVC outer jacket are therefore best suited for use in stone processing, as PVC is a highly abrasion-resistant and bending-resistant material. The CF881 control cable is the optimum choice, as the PVC outer jacket enables it to withstand the existing environmental influences and is a favourable alternative to PUR cables, which are not necessary for such dry energy chain applications.

Control cable CF5.10.25

Test number:2233
Bend radius:100mm (factor 5.3 x d)
Service life:42 million strokes
In this test, the life expectancy of the CF5.10.25 with cores wound in bundles in an e-chain with a 100 mm radius.

With a test result of over 42 million strokes with significant underbending, it was confirmed that the cable more than fulfils the durability requirements in a crane application.
Control cable CF5.10.25

Using the CF5 in practice

The CF5 control cable family is available in a huge number of core/cross section combinations. Indoor cranes very often use 1.5mm and 2.5mm cross sections to supply buttons, limit switches, motors, or even simple lamps with energy. The long travels in the hall, which can be more than 80m, are demanding. The short pitch length and cores wound in bundles promote a long service life. However, dirt from dust and exhaust fumes also affect the cables in the area of the hall roof and this is where the abrasion-resistant, oil-resistant outer jacket shines.

Control cable CF891.25.04

Test number:5042
Bend radius:125mm (factor 10.6 x d)
Service life:14.5 million strokes
This test was carried out to analyse the life expectancy of the CF891.25.04 in an e-chain with a 125mm radius.

The control cable's service life was tested in our test laboratory. To this end, the cable was assembled in an energy chain with a radius of 125mm. Continuous movement simulated the stress in the machine, permitting a good evaluation under real-world conditions.

Use of the CF891 in practice

The aim of the test was to determine the service life of the chainflex control cable. The CF891 must be able to reliably withstand continuous movement, for example in machine tools or processing machines. In addition, use in such machines often means that the cable comes into contact with oils. In terms of oil resistance, the outer jacket of the CF891, iguPUR, is particularly noteworthy. This jacket material was specially developed by igus for machine tools. This outer jacket in combination with a tested service life of 14.5 million double strokes makes this control cable a reliable choice for your machine.

Control cable CF9.15.18

Test number:4876
Bend radius:100mm (factor 6.5 x d)
Service life:526,000 strokes
In this test, the life expectancy of the CF9.15.18 in an e-chain with a 100mm radius in extreme cold was to be analysed. The test in our climate container under extreme conditions showed that the expected service life of the CF9.15.18 control cable is given over a long period at -40°C. In other words, exactly what customers expect: reliability even in cold environments.

Use of the CF9 in practice

The test assessed the chainflex cable service life at extremely low temperatures. Systems in outdoor applications need cold-resistant cables. It is precisely the low temperatures that affect the material – specifically, the outer jacket material. They occur at such locations as ports where cables are continuously exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Seawater, large temperature differences and precipitation require the installed cables to be weatherproof, UV-resistant and robust.
